Have you ever dreamed of teaching English online while exploring the world, all while earning a decent income? If your answer is yes, then you’re in for a treat because today, I’m about to introduce you to an online language school I joined recently called Twenix.
There are three primary ways to teach English online: freelancing for an online language school, using online teacher marketplaces, and/or starting a business as a Teacherpreneur.
Today, I want to shine a spotlight on the first option, freelancing for an online language school, and specifically, I want to introduce you to Twenix.

What is Twenix?
With Twenix, you won’t need to spend hours marketing yourself or dropping your prices to get started. From day one, Twenix allocates students to available Tweachers purely based on your availability.
All the class content you need has already been prepared for you by the Twenix team, so no more late-night lesson planning!
What’s really cool about Twenix and one of my favorite things about it is the flexibility it offers. You can get bookings up to 15 minutes before the class, giving you the freedom to pick up extra classes whenever the teaching mood strikes.
And when life happens, you can easily transfer your booked classes to other Tweachers at any time without any penalty.
Pay Rate and Getting Paid
When it comes to compensation, you’ll be pleased to know that Twenix offers a competitive pay rate. I earn $14 an hour but I’ve read that you can earn anywhere from $8 to $15 an hour based on your cost of living and other profile factors.
Not too shabby for having engaging and meaningful conversations, right?
Getting paid is also really easy. All you need to do is submit an invoice at the beginning of each month for the previous month’s classes and then Twenix transfers your payment using WISE.
They even have a process for creating your invoice within the platform making it a simple and streamlined process.
Requirements and Application Process for Twenix
Twenix Requirements
Let’s talk about the requirements and application process for Twenix.
To become a Tweacher, you do not need a bachelor’s degree.
Twenix accepts both native and non-native speakers. But if you’re not a native English speaker, you must have a native-like level.
A teaching certificate such as a TEFL or TESOL certificate is not required but it is preferred.
How to Get Your TEFL Certificate
I always recommend getting a teaching certificate because simply put, it will make you a better teacher. I highly recommend BridgeTEFL for their online TEFL course.
It’s where I got my TEFL certificate and I still take their professional development courses to further improve my skills and earning potential.

Application Process for Twenix
The application process is straightforward and consists of three simple steps:
- Fill out the application.
- Complete the video tasks.
- Complete the onboarding course.
The best part is that there’s no live interview to stress about!
First, the application itself is refreshingly short and easy. You’ll find just eight questions, making it a breeze to complete.
Once that’s accepted, you’ll be asked to complete two video tasks.
To help you prepare for the video tasks, Twenix provides some useful materials, including the questions to ask during your demo lesson as well as a podcast featuring a student sharing what they like and don’t like about Twenix classes. It gave me valuable insights into what students are looking for.
Since Twenix classes are all about engaging and natural communication, it’s important that you let your unique personality shine throughout the lesson. Be your authentic self and naturally engage with your student.
The onboarding course covers every aspect of Twenix’s teaching methodology, including how to book and conduct classes. It’s incredibly comprehensive and, best of all, completely self-paced. I felt well-prepared to begin teaching as soon as I completed it.
The great news is that you can complete all these steps even while you’re traveling the globe.
I went through this entire process during my recent trip to Turkey, South Korea, and Japan. So, if you’re a fellow digital nomad, rest assured that applying for Twenix fits perfectly into your nomadic lifestyle.
Twenix Classes and the Virtual Classroom
Let’s talk about Twenix classes and their virtual classroom. All classes are private, one-on-one lessons. The students can choose to have a video or audio-only class.
You’ll appreciate the collaborative environment. Each teacher leaves notes about how the student did in the previous class. It allows you to build on their progress and review their struggles.
The virtual classroom is awesome. It comes equipped with the lesson curriculum, objectives, and notes from the previous teacher. Plus, there’s a chat box with functionality to highlight mistakes and corrections, making learning effective and enjoyable.
These corrections are saved, so the student can review them after the class.
Twenix Students
The students are wonderful to interact with. They’re all European business professionals, primarily from Spain and Italy. We get to chat about their jobs, lives, and everything in between.
When the student joins the platform, they’re evaluated to determine their level. Then they choose from the wide variety of microcourses Twenix offers based on their goals.
It’s more than just teaching, it’s also building connections worldwide.
The lesson curriculum consists of 8 questions to guide your conversation with the student as well as 5 vocabulary words that they should be able to use and understand.
The goal is to have a natural conversation and Tweinix encourages teachers to ask their own follow-up questions.
In addition to conducting a conversation with students, it’s sometimes challenging to evaluate and assess their skills at the same time. That’s the only thing I find challenging about Twenix but I’m sure I’ll improve this over time. Other than that, I’ve really enjoyed my time with Twenix!
Ongoing Learning and Support
Lastly, Twenix regularly hosts live events that teach you how to make the most of the platform and become the best Tweacher you can be.
It’s incredibly helpful in honing my teaching skills and ensuring the students have an exceptional learning experience.
Final Thoughts
So, there you have it! That’s my personal journey with Twenix. It’s where 26-minute conversations can change the way you teach and earn online while you embrace the digital nomad lifestyle.
